Several months ago I went to Dallas to be interviewed on LIFE Today (with James and Betty Robison) and to write a few songs for my next CD. The genre of songs for this project is worship. I’m prayerfully writing these songs so that they might be sung by the church for the glory of God. I’m asking the LORD to breathe an anointing on each word and note so that the songs might be used to connect the heart of worshipers to the heart of the worthy One. Here’s one of my new favorites…

My Strength, My Song
by Jourdan Johnson & Gwen Smith

You speak to my weakness
You tell me Your grace is strength
Your power is made alive in me

 You’re near in my waiting
You hear every prayer I breathe
You raise me up from the miry clay

So I stand upon the Rock, Jesus

My Strength, my Song
I trust you in all things
For You are faithful
I will follow where You lead
My Strength, my Song
My Strength, my Song

You call me to healing
You promise to never leave
You take me beyond my doubt and fear

You save with compassion
Rejoice over me and sing
You quiet me with Your endless love

So I come with confidence, Jesus

You are the God of all hope
You’re my strong foundation
You are my Fortress and help
I will not be shaken

So many Scriptures inspired this lyric:

“The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God and I will praise him…” (Exodus 15:2) // “The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.” (Psalm 118:14) // “Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.” (Isaiah 12:2) // “He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” (Psalm 62:6) // “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) // “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.” (Psalm 40:1-3) // “The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)

Warmest Blessings,
Gwen
